Moving on... (new blog @ bishoffphotography.com)

Does this blog seem a little tired and outdated? Are you wondering where you can find more current information about Erik Bishoff Phootgraphy without having to pick up the phone to call Erik directly at 541.543.9322 or having to email him directly at info (at) erikbishoff (dot) com ? (I promise that I'm very friendly and even, dare I say, gregarious... in fact my middle name is Gregarious!)*

CLICK HERE TO VISIT THE NEW ERIK BISHOFF PHOTOGRAPHY BLOG!

Please visit my new website and blog site at http://www.bishoffphotography.com for all of your Bishoff bloggery needs! (Did I mention that my other middle name is Bloggery?)*

Please check around, make yourself at home, and I know you're going to enjoy what you see!

Cheers!
Erik

PS - Please visit Erik Bishoff's new blog HERE

* Please note... Erik Bishoff does have two middle names but they are not "Gregarious" or "Bloggery." (In fact "Bloggery" isn't even a word... yet) Erik's parents were only creative enough to come up with the middle names of "Richard" & "William." Which, while meaningful in their namesake, don't exactly inspire.) Erik Dick-Bill Bishoff thanks you for your time!

Ordering Merchandise from http://ErikBishoff.smugmug.com

It can be a little confusing.

I do wish that the smugmug.com ordering system was more intuitive when it comes to ordering up things other than basic prints. I've put together a couple of screenshots below to assist users in ordering merchandise like t-shirts, mugs, playing cards, buttons, and a whole host of other odds-and-ends at http://erikbishoff.smugmug.com.

First... you can find your way to your gallery, organized by category, on the main screen of http://erikbishoff.smugmug.com. (CLICK THE IMAGE BELOW TO VIEW A LARGER VERSION)

Next... the sometimes-illusive "buy" button is located at the top right corner of every preview image.

Finally... after clicking to buy "this photo" you will be presented with the following screen (see image below.) The "Merchandise" tab is located at the top of this screen.

If you require further assistance, please don't hesitate to email or call info(at)erikbishoff.com or 541.543.9322.

(Please note: some merchandise, like calendars and greeting cards, are not available on this screen but are available to you if you contact me directly.)

Laura & David - Valley River Inn - 11.11.2010

Congratulations to Laura & David who were married November 11, 2010 at the Valley River Inn in Eugene Oregon.  Rarely have I experienced a wedding as gracefully well planned as theirs.  Everything went off without a hitch. It's a real treat to be a part of the rare and elusive off-season wedding.  I was happy to be a part of it!

When camers misfire...

Schlepping two heavy cameras and a camera bag through crowded venues can create some interesting, and at times surprisingly attractive, misfires from time to time.  The randomness of some of these images, the fact that no one was looking the viewfinder when my cameras took these pictures, has always amused me.  No one took these photos... so who do they belong to?

The latest was taken during a November 11th wedding at the Valley River Inn.  Congratulations again to Laura & David!

Wedding Photography Marketing - 2011

The holiday season is a great time to get started on wedding planning. I put together a handful of new "ads" for Erik Bishoff Photography for some winter advertising. Looking forward to meeting more new clients for 2011!

Architecture Photography - Roosevelt Crossing Transitional Housing

I'm happy to say that one of my next shoots will be for ESSEX construction's newly completed project, the Sponsors, Inc. Roosevelt Crossing facility. The Roosevelt Crossing is a live-in facility for former inmates. The trio of buildings has the capacity to house over 70 men and women in three buildings on an acre of land. The property is wedged between Highway 99 and Roosevelt Blvd. in West Eugene on a very busy intersection. It should prove to be a challenging shoot as the buildings are fairly close together with a good amount of infrastructure (in the form of powerlines, traffic signals, signage, etc) to get in the way.

That being said, I'm looking forward to shooting a Bergsund DeLaney project... I've always been fond of their work. Even their more monumental projects are usually tastefully integrated into the neighborhood using simple and attractive materials with an honest, straightforward approach.

Amy & Rod - June 2010

Amy and Rod were married at the Schnitzer Art Museum on the UO campus just last week. The details were rich and the venue provided some wonderful backgrounds for a sincerely touching event. Congratulations to Amy & Rod!

Jesse - Then & Now

Whenever I have work in Portland we stay with our friends the Vella's. I snapped the picture of Jack & Jesse (right) just a few weeks ago. By coincidence, I discovered it was very similar to a picture of Jesse and his oldest son Lawson that I took six years prior.

Sleepy Baby Girl

Noemi has become a fierce opponent to sleep recently, waking around 3:30am and keeping us up for an hour or more every night. I recall Hollander going through a similar phase when he was around seven months old but he tended to go back to sleep after a quick nurse and some cuddling? On the whole, Noemi does sleep better than her big brother did but her early morning adventures are just as brutal. Anyway... I captured this shot with my Canon 5D Mark II. It is amazing what this camera can do in low light. This was taken at 3200 ISO to the light of a 40 watt bulb under a lamp shade about 4 feet away from Noemi's crib. The grain is MUCH less noticeable in color but I really like the moodiness of this pic in greyscale. We love you Noem! (now go to sleep)

Heidi & Alan @ Animoto.com

Playing with some new promotional "doo-dads" for the photo biz... animoto is a lot of fun but the render time is a bit disappointing. I assume they have a faster render time for the professional users. I'll have to look into that...

University of Oregon Campus Tour

A handful of shots by Erik Bishoff Photography recently made an appearance on the University of Oregon Virtual Tour website. The featured photos were taken during my years as a Photo Editor for the Oregon Daily Emerald and while doing some freelance work for the Admissions Department a number of years later. The UO has a huge cache of stock art to choose from so it was a nice surprise to find myself among the selected images.

Oliver & Theo

Toby and Brent were interested in getting some pictures of their youngest, Oliver, in time for the holiday. We spent a freezing-cold afternoon in downtown Eugene before the family got too wind chapped. Oliver, who was working on his first teeth at the time, was a good sport... to say the least!

Liska & Leo

Liska was looking for a gift for her husband and asked if I would spend an hour with her and Leo to get some shots with an urban background. Saturday ended up being a glorious day for shooting as it was unseasonably warm and sunny.

Jack Ormsby Vella

Baby pictures! Seriously... is anything more adorable? Infants are such fun to shoot. Their expressions and moods change by the second and their developing sense of awareness makes them the ultimate candid subjects.

This little guy, Jack Ormsby Vella, is the newest to the Vella clan. We've been friends with Jesse & Laurie since we all worked at Omars Restaurant and were room mates in Ashland Oregon almost 10 years ago. We love them dearly and feel so fortunate to count them as our closest friends.

As we look forward to our next arrival, a bouncing-baby-girl Bishoff, due any day, I also look forward to getting to know baby-Jack in the coming months and years. Congratulations you guys! (more to come?)

Stacey & Eric

Stacey and Eric had so much fantastic energy. Their love for one another came through the entire day and in addition to that they clearly make one another laugh-- something that was fun to watch and photograph!

It's been a busy year

OK, so I violated one of the cardinal rules of blogging...I haven't posted in almost a year! It was a busy year in the summer of 2008 and I photographed many beautiful weddings (see some samples below). In addition, I graduated with my Masters in Architecture and started work at a local architecture firm. I am still shooting weddings but have scaled back how many I shoot each summer so that I can still dedicate the amount of time and care it takes to do a good job for my clients. I'll post some of my summer 2009 shoots in the coming weeks.
